Welcome
Welcome to Balachladdich, the Ross-shire home of Harry and Lynda Munro. Harry grew up at Foulis, but like many other Highlanders before him, he emigrated to Canada in 1976 after graduating from a Canadian university and marrying Lynda whose family had been in Canada for over two hundred years. Today their permanent home is in Nova Scotia, but they spend between three and four weeks every year at Balachladdich.
Harry’s brother who is the Chief of the Clan Munro and his nephew Finnian manage the Foulis property which consists of over 1000 acres of arable land and 1,500 acres of upland forestry. His mother lives in Foulis Castle a private home which can be seen to rear of the house. The history of the Clan Munro is the focus of the award winning Storehouse of Foulis which is located immediately below Balachladdich on the water side of the A9 and is a must to visit. The primary crop grown on Foulis is malting barley which is used to produce whisky.
Guests are encouraged to explore the immediate area and a series of walks are described Later on in the binder. There is no lack of things to do in the area. Click here for just a brief listing.
